| The seminar of Apparel
Challenge 2005: RFID Technology organized by Apparelkey, Institute of Textiles and Clothing, in collaboration with Wider World Company Ltd. was held
successfully on 5th October, 2005 at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University .
The seminar focus on the widely adopted RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology. Dr. Lawrence Cheung from Hong Kong Productivity Council and Mr. Sam Liu from Power Electronics were invited to share about the experience in the applications of RFID technology in the apparel industry. The seminar attracted both of the industrialists and technologists from the apparel, merchandising, trading, manufacturing as well as retailing in the fashion and textiles industry. Through this event, the participants were able to share experience and exchange ideas about the applications of the RFID technology in the apparel industry. The participants found that the seminar was informative which allowed them to understand more details about the RFID technology. Radio frequency identification (RFID) is a technology making use of radio frequency transmission to identify people or objects automatically. Unlike barcode scanner, an RFID reader can simultaneously capture all raw data stored in each RFID transponders (or tags) within a wide reading range. RFID has been widely recognized technology to be adopted in enhancing efficiencies across the warehouse management and the supply chain network because RF tags can store data and modify the value by wireless. |
